Standard inclusive measures

The following measures are applied automatically for all participants:

  • Sample tests: The ITACE website includes a sample test ITACE for Students and a sample test ITACE for Lecturers featuring all question types, allowing participants to familiarise themselves with the types of questions, structure and difficulty level.
  • Keyboard options: Participants can choose between AZERTY and QWERTY keyboard layouts.
  • Accessibility features in the testing platform: Every participant can individually select the following settings:
    • Enlarged font size
    • Dyslexia-friendly mode with an adapted font
    • High-contrast mode for better visibility
    • Option to hide the timer
    • Option to disable the ‘15-minute time remaining’ notification

  • Spelling tools: For the writing test, the use of the Microsoft Word spellchecker is standard for all participants.
  • On-site assistance: There is always at least one invigilator present in the room to answer participants’ questions. However, invigilators are not permitted to answer questions related to the content of the test.
  • Objective assessment: To ensure objective scoring, two examiners evaluate all productive tasks. In cases of doubt or discrepancy, a third examiner is automatically involved.

Requesting Individual Accommodations

The standard accommodation that may be granted to participants who submit a request to the IUTC inclusivity team is an additional one third (1/3) of the allocated time for each test component, i.e. the computer test, the writing test and the oral test preparation, respectively. Other accommodations may also be requested and will be reviewed by the IUTC inclusivity team.

If you wish to request individual accommodations, please contact the test centre where you intend to take the test via email at least three weeks before the scheduled test date. Please provide the centre with official documentation supporting your request (in Dutch, French, English, German, or a sworn translation into Dutch).

The centre will respond within 7 working days to confirm which accommodations have been approved. Once you agree to the proposal, you will take the test according to the adapted procedure.
